HW News
It is 2017, and HealingWoman, begun in 2010, has grown. This year I will update the website to reflect the real-world activities I do, as well as make the blog library easier to navigate, making clear what is literary essay, what relates to health advocacy and medical articles for consumers, and what represents news or real-world activity.
I also invite others who would like to be heard to submit pieces as a guest author. There is no charge and copyright remains yours.
Can I help you? Let me know.

Essay. Family.
Some family members love us. Others do not know us well, if at all. Some greet new things with curiosity, others reserve or anxiety. I am talking about my family. Yours. Humankind. In a classic of science fiction, “The Lathe … Continue reading

Essay. What we do in life matters, much more than we may think.
A general speaks to his knights. Condensation mists the freezing air. “Brothers,” he says. “What we do in life echoes in eternity.” He prepares them to ride into battle, to kill, for at least some, to die. On his signal, … Continue reading
Essay. Living Kindness.
Many of us have heard the saying “Practice random acts of kindness.” Today I saw a poster that stated true kindness is a lifestyle, not the occasional act. I believe that is true, and I know that no one knows … Continue reading

Essay. When Life Happens.
To rephrase an old saying, life happens while we are thinking about something else. Two years ago, a shopping center was built on what had been a rural golf course. Around that time, I drove home from a doctor’s appointment … Continue reading
